Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest is May 14-17, 2009.
Join us in the spectacular Wenatchee River Valley in North Central Washington for the 7th annual Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest! A wide variety of migratory birds come here from Latin America for a brief but important part of their year--to breed and fledge. You may see calliope hummingbird, white-headed woodpecker,
harlequin duck, osprey, western tanager and MacGillivray's
warbler in habitat that varies from snow-capped
mountains to sunny ponderosa pine forests and shrub steppe. (Please see links below for species lists from past festivals.) While birding is the heart of the weekend, activities
also include wildflowers, workshops and book signings, family activites, and the arts. Professionally
guided trips include leisurely strolls, boat trips, hikes, bus tours--fun for experienced and novice birders of all
ages!
The 2009 program is available now, and registration
began May 1 through the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce (509.548.5807). To see what types of events we offer or to download a pdf of the program, check the EVENTS button at left.
NOTE! Special SURPRISE Event just added! |

Mission
Statement:
The Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest provides educational and recreational
activities focusing on birds, wildlife, and their environments.
This annual event promotes the awareness of environmental and
conservation issues surrounding the area's birds, while providing
an economic and educational
benefit to the community. This event connects with International
Migratory Bird Day and includes a multi-cultural aspect linked
to Latin American countries. The heart of the festival is to
have fun through bird education with-and-for families, locals
and visitors, yet the event also has a scientific quality of
gathering important birding data.
