Arts are a Highlight of the Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest
Although birding is the main focus, this newest of Leavenworth’s
festivals has a creative side, too.
- Keynotes, Dr. Dan Stephens and Scott Bailey: Form and Function in Nature, Saturday, May16
- Lake Birds Float and Draw field trip, Thursday, May 15
- Friday night coffeehouse acoustic music with Dana Lyons of "Cows with Guns" fame, The Mission Creek Players improv group and a visit from "John James Audubon" played by Ken Bevis (May 16)
- Dances with Birds: Latin dance performance that teaches about bird migration
- Nature journaling with Heather Murphy (Adult class on May 10, school student class on May 12)
- Bluegrass music in an outdoor setting
- Nature authors
- Art Walk of professional art, Walk-About with the artists on May 15, 5-8 PM from the gazebo between Front Street and Highway 2.

- Songbird Concert by the ICMC trio and

Art
is part of the Bird Fest education mission.
"Birds on the Move," a juried
art show, features the talents of area middle and high school students
and will be displayed at Barn Beach Reserve.
Student Invitational Nature Journaling Workshop – Special workshop allows 15 lucky pupils to study with a professional artist/wildlife biologist.
Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest Art Walk
May 8-26, 2008
More than 25 local, professional artists will be showing their work in sponsor businesses during Bird Fest weekend. Subject matter will be birds and the natural world, with media including drawing, painting, pastels, prints, photographs, ceramics, glass and furniture. The Art Walk will also link the permanent Sleeping Lady Art Walk and to the Bird Fest Student Art Show at Barn Beach Reserve.
This event is organized by corporate sponsors Icicle Arts and The Design Ranch. 10% of all sales of art will support art programs during Bird Fest 2009.
